IMPASSIVE ROBOTIC SANTA CLAUS
WISHES YOU A FUNCTIONAL HOLIDAY SEASON.

No, really, I just put together a fun little Christmas project using some stuff I had laying around the house.

So I took an empty shampoo bottle, the twisty-thing from the bottom of a deodorant stick, and a little plastic cone. I also yanked the LEDs out of this thing because, let's face it, Christmas kicks Halloween around the block a time or two.

Broke out the trusty spraypaint and hit up the shampoo bottle and other assorted parts with a few layers. You probably already know the Santa Claus color scheme...red. With white trim. That's about it.

It's a good time to have a glass of eggnog.
Maybe a splash of rum or whisky in there.

Gently lay a few pieces of tape on the red once it's totally dry. Masking tape might be a much better idea, but some lightly laid down scotch tape worked just fine for me.

Now a bit of electronics. And by "a bit" I mean "possibly the least amount of electronics ever because I don't know beans about electronics and don't want to electrocute myself." The LEDs had long enough and stiff enough leads that I didn't need any additional wiring. Just the tension of the leads, bent properly, would hold the batteries in place. One of the batteries was dead, so I switched it out with another I had laying around in one of those lame travel clock things.

I took the lights out and spraypainted the face flat grey because, well, he is the Impassive Robotic Santa Claus.

For Christmas he will give you batteries. Or perhaps a piece of breadboard or a small electrical shock.

He might eat your cat.

He's here to protect you from the terrible secret of space.
He will lead the terrible robot invasion.

But don't run up any stairs, because he won't be able to get you.

That's about it! I'll be out for a few days, so be sure to stop in theForum and keep everyone company. Merry Christmas!
