In case you're new to the internet, let me introduce you to Will It Blend. WiB is a viral video campaign created by the folks at BlendTec - and it basically features some folks awesomely punishing an industrial strength blender. How rad is that? Quite. Quite rad.

So here I am with a crummy old blender (which leaks), some spare time on a weekend, and the capacity to record and edit video. And you expect me to not do my own tribute? Come on! You so crazy.

So click play on the ol' You Tube deal below and watch
theWAREHOUSE presents: Will It Blend - a parody of errors

Fun, wasn't it? Oh my yes it was. A couple notes:

One - I wanted to get "strike anywhere" matches instead of "strike on box" - but no matter where I looked I couldn't find any! They still sell them, right? Probably at a camping store. I have a feeling those would have been much more impressive.

Two - With the Nail Polish Remover, well, it looked cool for sure but I nearly burned down my apartment. That stuff splashed all over the counter. Fortunately it's just the fumes burning off (if you doubt, you can tell because it lit before the match was anywhere close to the liquid), so there wasn't any real property damage. But I was sure to have a pitcher of water on hand.*

Here are a couple shots of what was left of the cell phone. I still don't know where the body went. And below that is a shot of what's left of the inside of the blender. Note: of course you're not supposed to able to lift the reservoir body off the still spinning blades while it's running. That's just an example of how trashed it was.

* My associate troublemaker, Rock, berated me that one ought not throw water on burning liquids. While it's certainly true that, generally, it is better to smother burning liquids, that wasn't really practical in my situation. Regardless I did make sure to unplug the blender in the same motion as turning the pitcher down in the sink - all of this occurring out of frame and after the video ran out. The second reason for not throwing water on burning liquids is that it splashes and wreaks more havoc. Again, that's usually for burning grease, etc - as soon as a splash of water hit the burning nail polish remover it sluiced it all immediately away from the combustions, which immediately went out. Still: be careful when playing with fire.

The End...or is it?
