WARNING: this article contains photographs of parts of dead animals. It's a little gory. So consider this your warning.

There is at least one predatory "wild" cat in our neighborhood. The neighbor's cat wanders around outside too. Those are dangerous enough to the traditional little woodland creatures that make my yard their homes. Add into that my occasional bout of tyrrany by way of the Lawnmower Apocalypse and it's amazing that the yard isn't just a huge pile of corpses.

Still, it comes pretty close.

I found all of these just walking around this morning.

This last one was a fairly fresh corpse. It was being picked upon by a couple of crows - circle of life, I suppose. But whenever I see a group of crows harassing a hawk over territory I always root for the hawk. The hawks have very specific territories, and crows just blast on through being jerks. I'm not great at identifying bird, but according to 10 minutes on the internet I think this is a Cooper's Hawk or a Sharp-Shinned Hawk. Anyone know or think differently?

The End
